Fives Group, founded in the early 19th century and headquartered in Paris, France, is a leading industrial engineering group that designs and delivers machines, process equipment, and complete production lines. Its primary specialization lies in serving major industrial sectors such as aerospace, automotive, metallurgy, cement, energy, and logistics. The company excels in high-precision machinery, thermal processing, automation systems, and digitalized production solutions tailored to industrial-scale manufacturing. Fives Group emphasizes innovation through ultra-precision machining, automated composite systems, industrial maintenance services, and laser technology. It sets itself apart by focusing on decarbonization, digital transformation, and integration-ready systems that ensure industrial-grade performance. With a presence in over 25 countries and a workforce of 9,200 employees, Fives supports a global customer base across infrastructure-heavy and technology-driven industries.
As manufacturers look to produce increasingly complex large-diameter components in fewer set ups, the ability to combine turning and milling operations on a single platform is becoming increasingly desirable. However, conventional mill-turn approaches can present certain compromises in the production of heavy cylindrical parts. Fives High Precision Machines (Fives HPM), through its Giddings & Lewis brand, is addressing the challenge from a different direction: by adding five-axis contouring capability to a platform specifically engineered for large-part vertical turning.
Supported by the Fives Group's industrial network, Fives AddUp plans to manufacture its large-format metal additive manufacturing system in the United States for the North American market.
Fives acquires Pietro Carnaghi S.p.A., expanding its capabilities in large-scale and high-precision machining for defense, nuclear, aerospace, and energy sectors.
