Webinar on supercritical CO2 milling for medical devices
To show how supercritical CO2 milling can help medical device manufacturers meet their challenges, GF Machining Solutions, together with Kompetenzzentrum für Spanende Fertigung (KSF), located in Tuttlingen (Germany), will have a joint webinar on 5 May 2022 (3 p.m. – 4 p.m. CEST).
The use of super-critical CO2 as a coolant for milling has generated considerable interest in recent years due to the efficiency gains this technology can create, especially for medical device manufacturing. The technology is considered a potential game changer for efficient milling. Over the last months, KSF and GF Machining Solutions have collaborated for the research on supercritical CO2 milling through the use of a Mikron MILL S equipped with a supercritical CO2 cooling system.
During the webinar Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bahman Azarhoushang, Director of KSF, will present the results from the latest trials, where supercritical CO2 milling has shown improvements in material removal rates, tool life, surface finish and surface micro-hardness. Erik Poulsen, Medical Segment Manager at GF Machining Solutions, will speak about innovative solutions for individual and series production of medical devices. The webinar will be followed by a live Q&A session.
